About Us

Our parish operates under the spiritual and administrative guidance of the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain, and the Ecumenical Patriarchate and it is dedicated to serving the Orthodox Christian community in Surrey, UK. 

Our vibrant community boasts a regular congregation made of faithful and supporters from all walks of life; whether you are British, Greek or Cypriot, Romanian or Ukrainian, Russian or Bulgarian, Italian or Turkish or of any other nationality, you are most welcome to join us in praising and glorifying God. 

Our permanent priest oversees our community in spiritual, liturgical, pastoral and administrative matters and we regularly celebrate Holy services, including Matins and Divine Liturgy every Sunday, weekdays and on major feast days.

Orthodoxy offers its steadfast witness of its faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. It professes His peace and calls all those interested to a fruitful and unselfish dialogue, unbiased research, towards the knowledge and living of the Truth.

Not only is Orthodoxy our faith, but also a way of life, where life itself gets filled with joy, hope, but above all spirituality. At each Divine Liturgy, we commemorate the events of Christ's life, His death and resurrection. It is only through participation in this way of life that individuals can truly grasp its essence.

Furthermore, our newly formed Philanthropic committee, known as “Philoptochos”, organizes fundraising events to support those in need. Each year, we host several celebrations, and we also run a food bank.  Orthodoxy offers its steadfast witness of its faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Love is undoubtedly the gift of God, the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Gal. 5, 22). But a prerequisite for one to accept the Grace of the Holy Spirit is that it be his wholehearted choice, a reception on the part of the mind and the heart, which leads to obedience of God's commandments (Jn 14, 23). God loves man and gives him the possibility, if he himself so desires, to respond with his love to God's love and thus be changed into "a habitation of God through the Spirit" (Eph. 2, 22).

The Very Reverend Archimandrite Grigorios was born in Palermo Sicily. Since his young age, he was active in church and started his first studies of byzantine music at the age of seven. In Palermo he attended the first years of the academic studies, following which he completed a degree in classics and philosophy. He then continued his studies at the universities of Palermo where he earned two master’s degrees and Cambridge where he completed his theological studies. Soon after he embarked into a doctorate in contemporary ethics of pastoral theology. Following his ordination to the diaconate, which took place at the church of Saints Constantine and Helen in Athens Kolonos, was appointed by His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Messinias to serve at the Holy Monastery of the Prophet Joel in Kalamata. Two years later He was ordained to the holy priesthood and received the nomination of archimandrite.

The very Reverend Archimandrite Grigorios is fluent in English, Italian, Greek, Koine Greek, Latin, and Spanish.
